We had a super short visit to Glasgow at the tail end of our trip to Scotland in June 2024. We were only there for 24 hours, but I still did a ton of research ahead of time on where to eat gluten free safely. This included reading other bloggers’ posts, looking at Google reviews, using the FindMeGlutenFree app, and looking up menus online. Very few of the restaurants/bakeries we found were 100% gluten free in Glasgow. There were many restaurants we didn’t make it to, so at the end of this post I have a map of everywhere I found that I considered to be options. I also have some grocery store recommendations. As always, make sure to do your own research, ask questions ahead of ordering, and reach out to restaurants ahead of time regarding options and protocols if you need to.

Gluten Free Glasgow
Bread Meats Bread
This is a chain that has separate fryers with lots of gluten free options. I had a gluten free bacon cheeseburger, and we shared plain fries. The buns are actually pretty good! The burger comes out with a little gluten free stick in it, and a manager brought it out. It is a bit pricey for just a burger, but there are multiple locations.
Tinderbox
A local coffee shop with multiple locations (we went to Ingram Street). They have some gluten free food options, and good coffee. We had the gluten free raspberry brownie. and it was moist and rich. We quite liked this place for a simple coffee and treat!
Stack & Still
This is a popular brunch spot in Glasgow, known for its pancakes. We went for lunch, and had no problem getting a table. They asked if we had allergies, and when I said gluten free, they asked celiac or preference. I had a sweet gluten free pancake with peanut butter, banana, and toffee sauce. We shared a side of spicy chicken tots, which we also specified to be gluten free. Ahmed had gluten-full pancakes. They have multiple locations.
Blue Lagoon Fish & Chips
A local chain with gluten free fish and chips and a sausage, with separate fryer. We got a 2-piece fish & chips to share. The fish was not good. It tasted almost plastic-y, or maybe freezer burned? The chips were just okay. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return; we didn’t finish our food it was that bad. Multiple locations throughout Glasgow and UK. Perhaps other locations are better? Disappointed given the many positive reviews. We decided to still include it in this list, as we wonder if this was an off night or perhaps another location would be better, since FindMeGF has stellar reviews of this chain.
Grocery Options
We found a few good grocery options throughout Scotland. These spots in Glasgow had quick lunch options, such as salads or pre-packaged sandwiches.
Sainsbury’s Local
We stopped here for the meal deals. They had a gluten free chicken salad or egg salad sandwich, plus a potato egg salad as a main option. I tried the chicken sandwich, which was super dry. Worse than the other meal deal options I’ve had.
M&S Simply Food
We went to the location at the Glasgow Airport, and got sandwiches as we didn’t know what would be after security. I had the gluten free chicken bacon, which had way too much mayo and the bacon was super chewy and hard to bite through. Not the best, but an option if you’re looking for something at the airport.
