We took a 14-day road trip through Andalusia in March 2024, as part of our 4-month European Adventure. Two weeks felt like a good amount of time to see a mix of cities and coastal spots, though there are a few things we’d change if we did this trip again (included at the end of this article). You could easily shorten this itinerary by skipping a few stops or reducing time in certain cities, depending on your travel style.

FULL ANDALUSIA ITINERARY
DAY 1 – Arrive in Seville
Stay in Seville:
- Arrive in Seville
- Check in to your hotel
- Explore Santa Cruz neighbourhood
- Evening walk and dinner
DAY 2 – Seville: Cathedral & Plaza de Espana
- Walk through Plaza de España
- Visit Seville Cathedral & Giralda tower (book in advance)
- Explore Triana neighbourhood
- Go to Setas de Sevilla at night
DAY 3 – Seville: Alcazar & El Centro
- Visit the Alcázar of Seville (book in advance)

DAY 4 – Seville → Córdoba
Stay in Córdoba:
- Pick up rental car in Seville
- Drive to Córdoba
- Check in to your hotel
- Explore historic centre (see Plaza de las Tendillas & Templo Romano)
DAY 5 – Explore Cordoba
- Visit the Mosque-Cathedral (book ahead — we missed this)
- Walk across the Roman Bridge
- Explore old town streets

DAY 6 – Córdoba → Granada
Stay in Granada:
- Drive to Granada
- Check in to your hotel
- Explore areas near your hotel (slow evening)
DAY 7 – Explore Granada
- Explore Albaicín & Sacromonte neighbourhoods
- Visit viewpoints (Mirador San Nicolás & Saint Michael viewpoints)
- Wander local streets and markets (Alcaiceria & Carrera del Darro)
DAY 8 – Granada: Alhambra
- Visit the Alhambra (book well in advance)
- Explore surrounding areas at a relaxed pace

DAY 9 – Granada → Nerja
Stay in Nerja:
- Drive to Nerja
- Stop in Frigiliana on the way
- Check in to your hotel
- Explore Nerja town (old town & Balcon de Europa)
DAY 10 – Explore Nerja
- Visit beaches and viewpoints (such as Mirador de Cerro Gordo & Playa Torrecilla)
- Optional: Nerja Caves
- Relaxed day

DAY 11 – Nerja → Ronda
Stay in Ronda:
- Drive to Ronda
- Stop at El Torcal de Antequera and/or other scenic viewpoints
- Check in to your hotel
- Explore old town Ronda
DAY 12 – Ronda & Setenil de Las Bodegas
- Drive to Setenil de las Bodegas (town built into the mountain!)
- Visit viewpoints, such as Mirador del Genal
- Explore Ronda, walking across Puente Nuevo bridge

Today you’ll take a day trip out of Ronda to Setenil de Las Bodegas. This is a town built into the mountain. It will take 25 minutes each way to drive here from Ronda. Once you’ve found parking, explore the village! We spent a couple of hours here.
DAY 13 – Ronda → Cádiz
Stay in Cádiz:
- Drive to Cádiz through Grazalema / El Bosque
- Check in to your hotel
- Explore old town
DAY 14 – Explore Cádiz
- Walk along coastline
- Visit beaches and Parque Genoves
- Explore central market

DAY 15 – Departure / Return
- Travel back to Seville to return your rental car and depart the region, or continue onward to see more of Andalusia!
Today you’ll depart Andalusia. If you have time before you leave Cadiz, stop by Chato Beach just outside the city center. Drive from Cadiz back to Seville to return your rental car, which is about a 1.5 hour drive, and depart via the train station or airport. We hope you enjoyed your time in Andalusia!
What We’d Do Differently
If I were planning this trip again, here’s what I’d change:
- Spend less time in Córdoba and visit it as a day trip
- Reduce time in Ronda, visit as a day trip, or skip it in favour of another stop
- Book major attractions (Alhambra, Mosque-Cathedral) earlier
- Be more flexible with weather in shoulder season
- Consider a different coastal base than Nerja depending on what you’re looking for

- Granada – 3 nights
- Nerja – 2 nights
- Cádiz – 2 nights
Skip: Córdoba (or visit as a day trip), Ronda (can pass through from Nerja → Cádiz)

- Seville – 3 nights
- Granada – 3 nights
- Cádiz or Nerja – 1 night
Skip: Córdoba, Ronda (or pass through Cordoba from Seville → Granada)
Focus on: fewer stops, less driving
5 Days in Andalusia
- Seville – 3 nights
- Granada – 2 nights
