We stayed in Cordoba during our 2-week Andalusia road trip in March 2024. We spent one full day (two nights) in Cordoba. We felt this was a bit too long and that 1 night or doing Cordoba as a day trip from Seville would have been sufficient. If you’re here in the right season, try to do a walking tour of the patios of Cordoba. We were a bit early in the season, so only found one open patio.

Here is what we did during our 1 days (2 nights) in Cordoba:
Day 0: Arrive in Cordoba
Day 1: Mosque-Cathedral, Roman Bridge, historical center of Cordoba, patios
Day 2: Depart Cordoba

DAY 0:
Today you will arrive in Cordoba! For us, this meant arriving by car after driving from Seville. You’ll stay in Cordoba for two nights (one full day). We stayed at Hotel Cordoba Centro, which had a quiet room, was a good size, but was very dated and parking was quite expensive.
After you’ve checked into your hotel, you can explore the area you’re staying in and rest up for a longer walking day tomorrow.
DAY 1:
Today you’ll be exploring Cordoba. If you’ve pre-booked tickets or a tour for the Mosque-Cathedral, adjust the day as needed. We started out heading to the Mosque-Cathedra of Cordoba, but didn’t have pre-booked tickets and they were sold out so we couldn’t go inside. We were able to visit the courtyard outside, and walk around the outside to see the tile work.
From the Mosque-Cathedral, make your way to the Roman Bridge of Cordoba where you will also pass the Puerta del Puente. Cross the bridge to the opposite side of the river, where you’ll find Torre de Calahorra. On this side of the river you can get a bit more of a local feel, wandering through the streets, before crossing back toward the old town.
Wander through Centro Historico (ie. old town) Cordoba, which is a UNESCO protected site. If you’re here in May, get a tour of the patios. We were a bit early and sadly only found one open patio.
While you’re in old town, you can pass by Templo Romano, which is a small site with Roman ruins and reconstructed pillars. Pass through Plaza de las Tendillas which will get you to the shopping district of the city.
Lastly, you can make your way to Jardines de la Merced if it’s a hot day and you need a break from the city buzz. If you want more to “do”, you can make your way to the Alcazar of the Christian Monarchs and gardens, which we didn’t do but read great reviews on.
DAY 2:
Today you’ll depart Cordoba. For us, this meant driving from Cordoba to Granada to continue on our Andalusian road trip.
