We were only in Dublin a short time during our June 2024 trip to Ireland. That means the list of gluten free places we ate isn’t very long, but I have included a map at the end of this post of everywhere I found that I considered to be good gluten free options. As usual, I did a ton of research ahead of time on where to eat safely. This included reading other bloggers’ posts, looking at Google reviews, using the FindMeGlutenFree app, and looking up menus online. Sadly, I couldn’t find 100% gluten free restaurants or bakeries in the Dublin city center.
As always, make sure to do your own research, ask questions ahead of ordering, and reach out to restaurants ahead of time regarding options and protocols if you need to.
Nutbutter
This is a Thai inspired restaurant serving healthy eats. They have allergens marked on the menu, but almost everything is gluten free. I had the Pad Thai bowl with chicken, which was super spicy but great flavours. Ahmed had the Super Bowl with chicken, also delicious. We got the guacamole and chips to start, which were delicious but super small for the cost. Overall, we’d go back!
Goose on the Loose
This is a tiny crepe and breakfast/lunch spot. They have gluten free crepes and pancakes. I had a blueberry crepe with syrup and yogurt, and Ahmed had a honey banana crepe. The syrup was real maple syrup! The crepes were delicious, as was the coffee. There seemed to be an upcharge for gluten free crepes, but we weren’t given a receipt so I’m not sure how much. A cute local spot! It is small, so could be busy during peak times. We went about 1:30 on a Monday and had no trouble getting a table.
Beshoff Bros
They have gluten free fish and chips available at all locations except Howth, with separate fryers. The fish batter was light, and the chips were good. A ton of food for the standard fish & chips though! You might opt to do some sharing.
Kealy’s
This is a good pub option near the airport. You can walk from the car rental pickup area in about 10 minutes. They have an allergen list on back of menu. There are a couple gluten free options – a note that the fries are not safe. I had chicken curry with rice, which was good but too spicy for me. We were so hungry, I forgot to take pictures!
A do NOT recommend:
Milano, which is a chain restaurant similar to Pizza Express in the UK. We ordered delivery and got 2 GF pizzas and the halloumi bite appetizer. Neither were good. The pizza was especially not good. Truly awful especially for the price. We didn’t finish. The halloumi bites were edible, but that’s about it. Do NOT recommend (not because of safety, but because of the quality of the food).
Map of Gluten Free Options
If you want more options, here is the Wanderlog map I made of everywhere I could find that had good gluten free reviews, labelled menus, and/or indications that gluten free was safe at their restaurants. Please note that I did not personally eat at all these restaurants, so do your own due diligence and reach out or check their websites/menus ahead of your visit.
HOW TO USE THE MAP: Click on the Wanderlog logo in the bottom right corner to open the full-size map up in a new tab. There, you can choose to just look at one category at a time or see all the categories on the map at once (click the 3 squares in the top right to choose). You can also export the map to Google Maps, share the map with others, or save the map.
